CPUT is infamous for its shortage in residence spaces and since im an architectural student this worries me and also affects me a lot.
during my search on sustainable architecture I stumbled upon a few interesting solutions to this problem.althpugh shipping containers aren't most likely to be used for living purposes this struck me as one of the most effective solution to our problem.
Utrecht university is a university based in Netherlands. these container dometries were designed by MIMOA Architects, the aim was to provide flexible, low-cost housing for students, key workers and young professionals. The University of Utrecht has installed over 300 units. Each Spacebox has its own kitchen, wc and shower-room. There is a communal laundry. Other design options include communal café/ sports/ leisure rooms.
if this cant help improve CPUT's residence I don't know what will:)
