this Coutry club servers a golf course in Yeoju-gun. The country club is known to be one of Koreas luxurious country clubs. With its unique wooden column timber structure, Haesley’s clubhouse won three prestigious global architecture awards.
It comprises of three main buildings thus being the main club house for regular members, a VIP members area, and accommodations VIP members and each of these buildings is composed of three different structural systems. it has an underground parking lot and three levels above ground level.
the architects have used timber as their main material .they have showed the flexibility of the material and and also shown how natural materials such as timber and stone blend well together. what attracted me the most about this building is the wooden hexagon grid shell found in the main building. This Grid was inspired by thee Korean traditional summertime pillow(also known as bamboo wife). This feature doesn't only serve as an aesthetic feature but it also provides structural support by means of columns. This structure is said to be fire resistant. the structure is built in such a way that it allows skylight and ventilation through.
The building has won several awards these including : 2010 World Architecture Community Awards – International Award for Sustainable Architecture – Winner 2010 The International Architecture Awards – The best new global design – Winner 2010 Fassa Bortolo International Awards – International Prize for Sustainable Architecture – Winner - See more at: http://designalmic.com/haesley-nine-bridges-golf-club-house-shigeru-ban-architects-kaci-international/#sthash.PDcQ50hn.dpuf
